Anti-Theft Devices for Your Car

car commuter accessories

Personal property and valuables can be protected by anti-theft devices. They are also used to secure merchandise in retail stores. You can use locks, RFID tags or GPS locators to secure your items. Here are some examples. Continue reading to find out more. And remember, the better the anti-theft system, the safer your car will be. But how do you know which one is right for your car?

Wheel clamps

Anti-theft systems include wheel clamps that can stop unauthorized vehicle use. These clamps are made up of an assembly that has a first, elongate arm as well as a catch member that projects transversely. The arm members attach to a supporting body member in a spaced out relationship. The space between the arm members accommodates the width of the road wheel. In addition, the locking mechanism is preferably adjustable.

Some wheel clamps are equipped with locking pins which act as a visual deterrent. Most wheel clamps are equipped with an internal locking mechanism. An ingenious thief may be able to cut the lock open or even remove it completely. Because they are an effective visual deterrent, wheel clamps are superior to other options. Even if thieves don't attempt to remove the clamp, the removal of the wheel would be obvious to passersby.

Tire locks

Tire locks are a great way to protect your car when it is in a public place such as a garage or street. They prevent your car from spinning when you're not driving, and are especially useful if you'll be gone for a long period of time. You can choose from a range of different tire locks, with prices ranging from $20 to $30. Some locks are made from extra-tough steel, making them hard to pick or pry. Others latch to your steering wheels.

Most tire locks can be adjusted and come with a set of keys. These locks are simple to install and come with four keys for extra security. Many tire locks are compatible with most regular tires. However, larger mud tires and other large tires might not fit. It is highly visible so thieves will be less likely to target this device. It's easy to spot because of its bright yellow color. It's also very visible, making it an excellent choice to secure your car.

Passive immobilizer

Passive immobilizers are car security systems that lock and unlock a car's engines. If the immobilizer senses that an ignition key is not in use, it stops power from entering the coil. The circuit is complete only when the ignition key is turned ON, or by temporarily pressing a push-button. The engine cannot be restarted unless the system is fully arming. It can be bypassed by its owner by allowing him or her to start the engine.

An immobilizer also prevents the vehicle from being hot-wired without the correct key. Studies show that immobilizers can prevent nearly 40% of car thefts. Modern car keys include immobilizers in their design. These keys are known as key fobs. They often have buttons that unlock and lock the trunk and doors. Some smart keys allow remote start. However, if you're considering a Passive Immobilizer anti theft system for your car, make sure you check the information that comes with it.

LoJack

LoJack is a theft vehicle recovery system that will help you save your insurance and get your stolen car back. LoJack works by placing a small radio transceiver inside your car. The transceiver activates the tracking system when your car is taken. The computer sends an invisible signal to law enforcement that can track your car.

LoJack employs a radio frequency transmitter built into the machine and car. It doesn't require any external components, and it is powered by a dedicated power supply (usually 12 or 24-volts). The serial number of the LoJack unit is always matched once it has been installed and serviced. It won't work with other electrical devices. Installing the LoJack system in your vehicle is a good idea.
