How to be an Automotive Technician

Automotive technicians provide repair and maintenance services to vehicles. He/she is employed at automobile dealerships, garages, service centres, and auto shops. A technician in automotive must be able diagnose and repair problems quickly, safely, accurately, efficiently, and effectively.

If you want to be an automotive technician, you need an associate degree from vocational school. After completing the program, he/she must take the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence certification exam. ASE stands for American Society of Mechanical Engineers. The ASE certification test consists of two sections. One section tests mechanical knowledge; the second section tests practical skills. A candidate must pass the state exam after passing the test to become an automotive technician. It varies depending on the location of the applicant.
